Bench re-do

Lately I have been noticing all of these cute benches on people's porches and thought, "I could do that." So I looked at several stores at new benches of all sorts, but just couldn't find anything that jumped out at me. Then I started looking at used ones that I could make into whatever I wanted. I finally found this beauty for $10. She was painted with a greenish black paint, a vinyl seat and the backrest was raw wood covered with a piece of fabric from the 1970's. She was PERFECT! I took her apart and repainted her to match my front door. My husband hasn't finished making her new seat yet, so I put the vinyl back on for now. I also purchased a large cushion to put on the new seat when totally completed.
I think she looks great on the porch. Go ahead, you can do this too.

The books are back again,so don't procrastinate!!

This year I have been receiving emails from Winkflash inviting me to order a photo book. I just received another email today for a really great deal: you can make a photo book with up to 100 pages for $19.95. This time there are several sizes of books on sale- even ones with windows. Every couple of months they have this promotion. I have made 5 books so far this year and they have turned out great. If you are interested;
1. You need to have an account with Winkflash (set up for free) http://www.winkflash.com/
2. You need to have your photo book submitted by October 31st.
3. You need to use the code BOOKEM9 at checkout
I have found that they ship quite quickly. I usually have my book in a week to 10 days. If you have never done this before, they have easy templates to use. If you have wanted to try this, now is the time with such a great price! They are changing things all of the time and giving more options. This is a fun way to scrapbook. You only have 2 weeks so hurry!

Surprise party

We found out earlier in the year that my husband had NEVER had a birthday party, so we decided that it was about time that he did. We decided to make it a surprise. This is what we did for the invitations. I bought some heavy cardstock that looked nice and ran it through the printer to get the "top secret" logo on. Luckily a good friend loaned me her die for the folder and I placed it just right to get the logo in the correct place. I purchased some sticker sheets and printed about 20 pictures on each sheet. It was easy to adhere them to the inside cover. I made several pages to go inside the invitation.

1- Operation Surprise: told what was going to happen

2- Date, time and place

3- Statistics: gave facts about my husband ( schooling, employment, hobbies, etc.)

4- Family: had pictures of all of us

5- Map

Each page was printed on different color paper and attached to the folder with a paper clip. The party turned out great and there were many comments on the invitation.
